Igudesman & Joo “A little Nightmare Music”

March 26, 2011
Berklee Performance Center, Boston, Massachusetts

Classical music comedy is finally back! Violinist Aleksey Igudesman and pianist Hyung-ki Joo have picked up the mantle of Anna Russell, Victor Borge and P.D.Q Bach and given it a 21st-century make-over. Like their predecessors, they’re serious musicians who have turned Europe’s most esteemed concert halls into comedy clubs–and this is their first time in Boston.

“A Little Nightmare Music” is a unique show, full of virtuosity, enchanting music and zany, outrageous humor. Ideal for audiences aged 8 to 88, this show is sure to captivate you and crack you up whether you’re a classical music enthusiast or the type who runs for cover, at the mere mention of Mozart.

“Two top class musicians and perhaps the best entertainers I’ve ever seen. I laugh my head
off every time I see them, at the same time as being touched by their wonderful musicianship.
They got me, I’m a fan!“
JULIAN RACHLIN — violinist
“The funniest show on music and the life of musicians I have seen since the great Victor Borge. I couldnt stop crying of laughter for the whole evening. Go see these gifted musicians. What they show is life at its funniest side. It isn’t just entertaining, it is hilarious! “
GIDON KREMER — violinist
“I had the time of my life when I first saw them live in action, and felt honored to put in a cameo in some of their nutty skits! Take the opportunity to get a taste of their over brimming musical imagination”!
EMANUEL AX — Pianist
“A Little Nightmare Music brings surrealism to the concert hall and takes its trousers down! Very musical, very engaging and very funny.
A Big Hand for A Little Nightmare Music’s Big Hands.“
TERRY JONES — comedian/Monty Python/director
A Little Nightmare Music as a title is a misnomer.. Igudesman and Joo are a DREAM …watch them!“
SIR ROGER MOORE — actor
“Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo played at my 80th birthday
celebrations. I nearly died laughing. I’d like to invite them back
for my 85th, but that might be considered reckless.….. Great
musicians, great fun.
BERNARD HAITINK — conductor
“Igudesman and Joo are not only musical virtuosi but also comic maestros. Any thing they touch turns to gold and I am enchanted by them every time I see them. Definitely one of the funniest and most entertaining shows I have ever seen and I can’t wait to see them again in action!“
MISCHA MAISKY — cellist
