Russian pianist Denis Matsuev is widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianist performing today for his breathtaking virtuosity and clear artistic identity, which have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide for his solo recitals and orchestral engagements.

Denis Matsuev has collaborated with the world’s finest orchestras, such as the New York Philharmonic, symphony orchestras of Vienna , Chicago , Bavarian Radio, BBC, and Frankfurt Radio; the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Royal Scottish National, Budapest Festival, Rotterdam Philharmonic and Berliner Philharmonic Orchestras; and leading orchestras in France and Italy . He is continually engaged by such legendary Russian orchestras as the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Mariinsky Orchestra, and appears at major European and U.S. festivals.

This season sees Matsuev in eastern and western Europe, the U.S. and China with conductors Valery Gergiev, Paavo Järvi, Kurt Masur, Zubin Mehta, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Spivakov, and Yuri Temirkanov.

Artistic Director of the Sergei Rachmaninov Foundation since 2008, Matsuev recorded Unknown Rachmaninov, hitherto unknown works, on the composer’s piano at the Rachmaninov house in Lucerne . His Sony BMG CD was praised for his execution and creativity.
