Christmas Trees. Last Ones
is the final installment of the much-loved New Year film franchise. And this time it promises to be especially touching, bold and heart-warming since the characters will have to say good-bye to their audience after these past eight years. Six New Year’s Eve stories will elaborately intertwine, starring favorite characters and rising stars.
In Brothers the inseparable friends Borya (Ivan Urgant) and Zhenya (Sergey Svetlakov) will come to the brink of separation since Zhenya decides to go back to Yakutsk. In The Christmas Trees directed by Timur Bekmambetov, a millennial (Daniil Vakhrushev) will be helping his macho stepdad Uncle Yura (Dmitry Nagiev) make the perfect proposal. The skier (Alexander Domogarov Jr.) and the snowboarder (Alexander Golovin) will turn the whole town upside down for the smile of one charming girl in Egor Baranov’s piece. Anna Parmas will tell the story of a simple girl from Voronezh (Ekaterina Ageeva), who goes chasing her happiness – the celebrity actor Komarovsky (Mark Bogatyryev).
And the Snow Maiden (Julia Alexandrova) in Alexander Kott’s piece will set out to save the loneliest grandpa (Yuri Kuznetsov) – just in time for New Year. The new film will be full of surprises – like the return of Vera Brezhneva, and the biggest gathering of celebrity actors the Russian cinema has ever seen – when all the main characters of Christmas Trees come together at one New Year dinner table. All the stories will traditionally be connected by the narration of Konstantin Khabensky. And who knows, perhaps he too will finally appear on screen – there can never be too many surprises on New Year’s Eve!
