Russian pianist Denis Matsuev has become a fast-rising star on the international concert stage in the wake of his triumphant victory at the 11th International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1998.  Widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianist performing today,   Denis Matsuev is known for his breathtaking virtuosity and clear artistic identity, which have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide for his solo recitals and orchestral engagements.  He has appeared at the  prestigious concert halls throughout the world, including New York’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.,  and the Salle Gaveau in Paris.   Mr. Matsuev has continually reengaged with such legendary orchestras as Chicago Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, appearing with the most prominent conductors on the stage today including Lorin Maazel, Valery Gergiev, Leonard Slatkin, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Temirkanov,  Maris Jansons.

The magnificent Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall and its resident orchestra have been a fixture on the San Francisco cultural map throughout the twentieth century. The 2,700-seat building is a beautiful place to see a concert; it is of unique architectural design and offers stunning views of the Civic Center area from its huge glass walls. It building also features a gigantic 9,000-pipe organ.
